DOES NORTHERN EMBERS MENTAL HEALTH ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Operating outside of insurance networks allows us to provide care that is truly personalized. Insurance companies often limit session length, treatment approaches, and the frequency of visits. By remaining out-of-network, we are able to focus entirely on your needs, offering more time, greater flexibility, and treatment decisions that are guided by what is best for you.
For those of you who would like to utilize your insurance, please ask your insurance company about out-of-network provider coverage. Most insurances will provide some coverage. We do provide “superbill” receipts for you submit for potential reimbursement. Mental health services may also qualify for Health Savings Plan or Flexible Spending Accounts. We accept major credit cards.
Payment is due at the time of service. Please provide notice of cancellation within 24 hours of your appointment or you will be subject to a late cancelation or no-show fee.
We understand financial hardships occur and would like to make services accessible. Please ask about sliding scale and payment options.
What should I expect from my first psychiatric appointment?
Your first psychiatric evaluation is an opportunity for us to get to know you and understand your unique experiences, concerns, and goals for treatment. During this appointment, we will talk about your current symptoms, medical history, past treatments, lifestyle, and any factors that may be affecting your mental health. You will have plenty of time to share your story and ask questions in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

What should I expect from my first therapy appointment?
Your first therapy appointment is an opportunity to begin building a supportive and trusting relationship with your therapist. During this initial session, you’ll have the chance to talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to gain from treatment. Your therapist will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, and important aspects of your life to better understand your experiences.
This session is also a time for you to get a sense of whether the therapist feels like a good fit. You are encouraged to ask questions about the therapy process, treatment approaches, and what future sessions may look like. Together, you and your therapist will begin identifying goals and discussing a plan for moving forward. Most importantly, the first session is meant to be a safe, confidential space where you can speak openly and feel supported as you start your therapy journey.
